PowerMIDAS - RACE++ version of MIDAS
The board carries two PMC modules with an architecture optimized for high bandwidth I/O applications. Popular PMC modules supported include Fibre Channel for disk storage or real-time networks, Parallel I/O for sensor I/O (FPDP or custom ports) or Video for Frame Grabber and Display controller functions.
The product is offered as pre-programmed I/O solutions for Fibre Channel, ParalleI I/O, or Video in the RACE series of real-time multicomputers from Mercury Computer Systems and includes an API for the MC/OS operating system. Customer programmable solutions are also available based on the VxWorks environment, allowing customers to make their own I/O solutions based on readily available PMC modules for a vast number of I/O functions.
A unique feature with the PowerMIDAS boards is a symmetrical PMC arrangement that places one PMC on each side of a shared DRAM memory with up to 533 MBytes/sec bandwidth. Together with powerful DMA controllers in the i960RN or in the chosen PMC modules, this facilitates a "swinging buffer" scheme ideal for high-speed data flow-through applications.
The PowerMIDAS products are aimed at solving demanding I/O requirements such as sensor I/O and recording for radars, sonars and other imaging equipment. Typical customers are system integrators and OEMs within the aerospace/defense, medical diagnostics, seismic exploration and communication industries.
